Day 19, Apr.18, Mile 295 NO FEAR at Cape Fear.

19 04 2012

Left at 8 this morning and continued along the ICW into North Carolina. There were stretches of lovely homes, cottages and much beautiful nature. We are truly impressed at how clean and well kept this waterway is, as well as well marked. It all makes for a wonderful journey!

Our friends, Don and Wilma have been very helpful with local knowledge of the areas we have covered with them. We will miss them after they get to their home port in Beaufort NC.

We were thankful to have calm weather for crossing Cape Fear, a huge inlet to the ocean that can be very rough in bad conditions. We’ve finally gotten used to the fact that the channel markers change sides from the ICW ones, as well as numerically changing directions. You really have to have your wits about you!

Tonight we’re tethered to a mooring ball at Carolina Beach. Our traveling companions picked us up in their dingy and took us to the beach where we walked for awhile. The sand, the waves and the breeze were just ‘magical’! Talk to you tomorrow.

Wow…already Mile 295….time flies.

I have been reading each day and look forward each evening to sitting down and getting a little blurp of your day. Keep it coming!

Going to have a show of my ECO purses on Friday at Livy’s school. Hoping it goes well!

Hi, Giselle. What are our ECO purses? Did you make them? How did the sale go?
