Day 22, Apr. 21. Mile 204 Town Creek Marina

21 04 2012

This marina is the cutest yet,and so friendly! It looks like a southern plantation, with pillars(of course) and a big wrap-around porch with 8 rocking chairs. They even gave us a car to use for a few hours, so we went into town and looked around. What a CUTE place! It was a hot day so we got ice cream cones(the best). They had a free Maritime Museum and the prettiest boardwalk with shops and restauants. We had an early dinner at one of them, then we drove to the Piggly Wiggly grocery store to provision the boat.

Beaufort, pronounced Bo-fort(unlike Beaufort SC-pronounced Bu-fort), was voted the ‘Coolest small town in the US’, and we understand why. We kept hearing big booming sounds that we found out were coming from Fort Macon across the Bay at Moorhead City;I guess they were celebrating their 150th anniversary.

We’ve been studying our charts for the next portion of our journey–We still have a long, long way to go! Forgot to mention, also that yesterday we travelled for miles in Bogue Sound and along the Outer Banks, which is a sandy strip of land in the Atlantic, about 2 miles from shore. Most of it is not accesible by car.

More boat names for you: DOC HOLIDAY, REELIN AND DEALIN, PURSENICKEDY, MISS ALIGNMENT, FISH A-LURE, ONO!, EAU DE VIT, WINDIVA, THE FULL MONTE!

Well it’s time for us to play a game of dominoes. Supposed to get a storm tonight, but the forecast has been wrong before! Night yal.
